Sample itinerary—these will vary for each school group depending on length of trip, desired activities and budget.

Day 1

Arrive in Shannon Ireland and travel to the Burren for orientation at an outdoor education center

Day 2

Caving adventure and exploration of wells, lakes and tower forts in the Burren

Day 3

Travel day to Derry for activities with a local youth group

Day 4

Participate in workshop on peace building with local youth group. Evening Gaelic language lessons and Barbecue

Day 5

Hike Mount Errigal for incredible views and some exercise

Day 6

Travel day to Longford for projects involving the Native Woodland Trust

Day 7

Day of reforestation work and afternoon soccer game

Day 8

Travel day and visit to falls on way to Kylemore Abbey and its Victorian garden

Day 9

Service day in a local school on constructing a playground

Day 10

Visit Connemara national park and continue service

Day 11

Take ferry to stunning Aran Islands for overnight stay on Inishmore

Day 12

Bike Tour and evening Ragus show

Day 13

Return and overnight in Galway for souvenir shopping and exploring

Day 14

Early bus to Shannon for return home

Service Projects

  • Participate in Peace Workshop with Derry Youth
  • Participate in reforestation project with the Irish Woodland Trust
  • Assist a local community daycare program
  • Paint and enhance playgrounds for elementary schools

Adventure and Cultural Activities

  • Explore local Gaelic culture and history
  • Play Gaelic football and learn to speak some basic Gaelic phrases
  • Take in a high stepping dance show on the Aran Islands
  • Bike and hike thru the small fishing villages of Inishmore Island
  • Discover the extensive caves and rock cliffs in the Burren
  • Tackle one of Ireland’s tallest mountains (752 meters!)
