Sample itinerary—these will vary for each school group depending on length of trip, desired activities and budget.
Day 1
Arrive in Cuernavaca, meet homestay families
Day 2
Start Spanish classes at Cemanahuac Language School, afternoon excursion to center of Cuernavaca, the main plaza and the Palacio de Cortes
Day 3
Spanish classes, “intercambio” with local teens, evening traditional dance lessons
Day 4
Spanish classes, Afternoon excursion to Taxco
Day 5
Spanish classes, second “intercambio,” cooking lessons
Day 6
Spanish classes, Afternoon excursion to Xochimalco pyramid
Day 7
Travel to Tepoztlán, meet homestay families, welcome dinner and fiesta
Day 8
Start community projects or join in water conservation projects, afternoon hike to Tepozteco ruins
Day 9
Excursion to Las Estacas water park with host brothers and sisters
Day 10
Community projects continue, teach English lessons to local primary school students, evening game night with families
Day 11
Return to Mexico City, visit the zócalo, view Diego Rivera murals in the Palacio del Gobierno, explore Bosque de Chapultupec
Day 12
Departure
Service Projects
- Work with community development projects in Tepoztlán
- Assist local elementary school teachers teaching English
- Learn about and join in water conservation projects
Language Immersion
- Take a week-long Spanish course at Cemanahuac Language School
- Journey to Taxco and Xochimalco pyramids
- Tour Cuernavaca and sights in Mexico City
- Learn traditional dances
- Experience homestays with local families
Adventure and Cultural Activities
- Swim and snorkel in Las Estacas Water Park
