ALUMNI BRING IT HOME!
Each October, our Global Works alumni have a chance to lend their hands to
community service projects in their own back yards! We’ll distribute food at local
food banks, create celebrations and learning opportunities for underserved children,
create sustainable gardens, and introduce our alumni to ways that they can make
a difference in their own communities. Think Globally, Act Locally!

INTRODUCING TWO NEW ‘09 DESTINATIONS: NICARAGUA AND CHINA!
NICARAGUA
Join us in Nicaragua as we engage in locally-driven clean water
projects, relish the artistry and poetry of this quintessential Latin
American culture, and explore the land of volcanoes, lakes, and
pristine beaches! Our 3-week Nicaragua Cultural Exchange
program provides the perfect blend of service learning, cultural
exchange, and adventure travel.
CHINA
Join us for our inaugural trip to the majestic and ancient
country of China! Take in the awesome sites of Beijing,
including the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. Engage
in projects with children in Tianjin, hike through the beauty
of the mountains and Buddhist monasteries of Lijiang, and
visit pandas in Chengdu. This 4-week program provides an
unmatched immersion into the culture of China.
ENRICH YOUR SUMMER WITH 2 AND 3 WEEK PROGRAMS!
We know your summer is busy and you may not be able to get away for a whole
month, so Global Works has added more Summer Service Adventures in two and
three week formats. Experience the same meaningful community projects and
adventures in a shorter time period. These new offerings include:
2 COUNTRIES + 5 WEEKS = 1 UNFORGETTABLE JOURNEY!
Our longest trips offer exceptional opportunities to become immersed in two
neighboring cultures, to engage in a variety of service projects, and to travel to
some of the wonders of the world! Join us in Peru/Ecuador or Australia/New Zealand!
CARBON OFFSET INITIATIVE
Beginning in 2008, Global Works has been working with a grass roots organization
called CanopyCo to offset carbon emissions for all groups flying to and from
Ecuador. CanopyCo is a carbon offset and development organization, based and
working in Ecuador. Thus far, Our student and community efforts have resulted in
over 450 trees being planted in various communities across the Ecuador
countryside. www.canopyco.org
