China 3-Week

Cultural Exchange & Service Adventure

Program Accommodations

Orientation

In Beijing, we stay in a comfortable, small hotel located in a traditional houtong (a neighborhood comprised of narrow alleyways) within walking distance from the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.  A “courtyard hotel”, all the rooms open up into a center courtyard that is perfect for group meetings. The central area also doubles as a cafe where we have breakfast, and in the evenings after full days of touring the city and community service projects, our hosts serve us steaming hot ginger tea. Students stay in double or dorm-style rooms. Each room has a western-style bathroom.

Bifenxia

While working at the Bifengxia Panda Reserve, we stay within walking distance of the reserve in a courtyard hotel. It’s a family run hotel in a rural area. Students stay 2 per room in a dorm-like setting and we eat most of our meals at the hotel.

Xi’an

Our lodging in Xi'an is centrally located with a youth hostel side and hotel side. We stay on the hotel side in rooms, 2 to 4 students per room with private bathrooms. We do not stay with other travelers.

Testimonials | SEE ALL

Being immersed in a culture different than mine is the most amazing and rewarding experience anyone could have.

Rebecca Hoogwerf, China Participant

As cliché as it sounds, I just cannot pick my favorite part. I just spent a month in the place I’ve been dreaming about since I was a child.

Corey Zagone, China Participant

My Global Works experience was a wonderful experience. I feel that now I have a better understanding of China and its people and I felt that I left an impression on both.
