PROGRAM ACCOMMODATIONS
ORIENTATION : Gîte l’Emparis
Global Works France participants begin their journey far from the tourist crowds in a quiet youth hostel in the mountain village of Mizoen. The accommodation is locally owned and specializes in hosting student groups. From an extensive exterior deck, views of the massive Deux Alpes and Lake Chambon take one’s breath away. Lodging is rustic dorm style with students sleeping in bunk beds while a large dining area offers an ideal space for ice-breaker and cultural orientation activities. This is a perfect location to ease into our French experience before setting out on our next adventure.

OVERNIGHT HIKE: Refuge des Mouterres
Located on the Plateau d’Emparis in the French Alps, Global Works France participants hike up to a mountain hut in the corner of paradise. At an altitude of 7,380 ft, the rustic lodging accommodates our group in a cozy dormitory setting with indoor bathrooms and hot showers. June and July brings a variety of alpine flowers, butterflies, and wildlife to the surrounding mountain lakes.

PROVENCE
In Provence in southern France, we settle into a locally run guest house for a couple of days to explore the region. From this quaint and charming lodging, we visit the market place in Aix-en-Provence, a nearby lavender farm and tour Le Palais des Papes in Avignon. The lodging runs with family style group meals, private rooms and bathrooms.

CARCASSONNE HOMESTAYS
We will travel to the beautiful medieval town of Carcassonne to meet and stay with our gracious host families for 12 days. Our homestay families are carefully selected and the majority have hosted Global Works students in the past. Most families live in simple homes and all are committed to providing a caring, secure environment for our participants. Participants eat meals, sleep, and spend weekends with their homestay families. Most weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings, the groups come together to work on projects and engage in organized activities with fellow Global Works participants and members of the community. Students will have a private room within the home and the room is shared between two Global Works students.

PARIS
The end of our journey brings us to one of the oldest hostels in Paris. Situated in the very heart of the city, it is only a five minute walk to Ile Saint-Louise, the Royal Palace and the Louvre Museum. Accommodations are simple but comfortable, close to the metro line, and provide an excellent launching point for exploring the City of Lights.
