Nicaragua 2-Week

Cultural Exchange & Service Adventure

PROGRAM ACCOMMODATIONS

ORIENTATION

After flying into the capital city of Managua, students are transported to the colorful colonial city of Granada.  Here, students take part in orientation activities and stay in a fully restored colonial mansion.  Accommodations are dorm style, complete with bunk beds with each room having its own private bathroom.  Ample common space is available for ice breakers, and hammocks and a pool provide spots to relax and to cool off after a busy day of orientation to Nicaragua and Central America.

OMETEPE ISLAND

During the service portion of the program, participants are transported by boat to the idyllic islands of Ometepe.  Students stay at a restored turn of the century coffee plantation home with expansive decks outfitted with hammocks offering sweeping views of the surrounding volcanoes.  Lodging consists of rustic dorm style rooms with communal bathrooms complete with showers and flush toilets.  Excellent meals are prepared on-site with organic foods coming from surrounding farms and recently harvested coffee from the plantation’s beans.

SAN JUAN DEL SUR

Following a solid week of service work, the group takes a well deserved break by traveling to the Pacific coast and the surfing village of San Juan del Sur.  The area is famous for its expansive beaches, tropical dry forest, and wealth of marine life.  Accommodations are cabina style with four to six students sharing a cabin with a private bathroom.  The lodge we utilize has open common areas with an outdoor restaurant and an amazing view of the Pacific.
