Peru/Ecuador 4-Week

Language Immersion & Service Adventure

PROGRAM ACCOMMODATIONS

URUBAMBA

Upon arrival to Peru we quickly transition down valley to a more palatable elevation for orientation.  Our lodge near Urubamba is a retreat center set on  sprawling grounds with a lush mountain garden.  Rooms are comfortable and feature 2-6 beds and bathrooms with hot water.  Potable water is provided throughout the program and meals are served on premises.

HOMESTAYS

A 5 minute drive into town takes us to a local school which serves as the meeting place for our homestay families.  Our nerves melt away as each student is greeted by their friendly Peruvian hosts. For the next 9 nights we will immerse ourselves in Spanish as we connect with our host families in Urubamba.  Students will live 1 or 2 per home (depending on preference) and have a private space and bed in their homestays.  Breakfast and dinner will take place at home, while daily activities and lunch will be with our group.

MACHU PICCHU

Nestled at the base of Machu Picchu is the bustling town of Aguas Calientes.  We take a train up into town and settle into our hotel for the night.  Accommodations here feature clean and comfortable bedrooms in an idylic location.

CUSCO

This former Inca capital is a tourist mecca and lodging options abound.  Our choice of lodging is in a quiet, quaint hotel set back from the busy streets. It not only offers comfy rooms and ample group space, but its proceeds support a nearby orphanage which will inspire us during our stay and provide opportunites for cultural exchange.

QUITO, ECUADOR

The group arrives from Peru to the capital of Quito and heads to their classic colonial style hotel.  Just 5 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage site of Old Quito, this hotel is nestled into a quiet street lined with attractive greenery.  Rooms are split into 2 to 4 students with private baths and precious hot water.  There’s access to internet and a nice space for group meetings downstairs.  We are treated to a wholesome breakfast of eggs, fruits, and toast before heading out to discover the history and culture of Ecuador.

GALAPAGOS

As we bounce around the Archipelago and on to Isabella, Santa Cruz, and San Cristobal the lodging varies from standard to downright funky.  At the end of a long day snorkeling with Sea Lions, you’ll look forward to quiet and comfortable rooms for 2- 4 students and a hot shower.
