The group flies together on an overnight flight into Buenos Aires and meets their Global Works leader at the airport. In Buenos Aires, we enjoy a guided tour of famous landmarks such as Eva Peron’s Tomb, Plaza de Mayo, and the neighborhoods of Recoleta and La Boca. One evening is highlighted by a live Tango show.
Wake up early for an adventurous day trip to Uruguay. It’s just a one hour ferry ride to Colonia, Uruguay. Colonia’s “old quarter,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a fascinating place to explore. In the afternoon, we check out the beach down at the river for some swimming and relaxation. After a full day, we return to Buenos Aires.
Get started downtown at the Casa Rosada and make our way up to the museums in Recoleta & Palermo Cemeterio de Recoleta. Later, we check out the MALBA National Museum and punctuate the day with a visit to a teen art center where we participate with local students on an art project. The next day features a visit to Fundación PROA, an internationally renowned cultural center located in the traditional neighborhood of La Boca. We also take time to venture out into the colorful streets of La Boca.
We head over to the Río de la Plata estuary where we visit the Parque De La Memoria, dedicated to the victims of Argentina’s “Dirty War.” Then, we head out to explore the Tigre Delta by boat.
We spend the last day exploring San Telmo Market and attending a local soccer match (if the schedule allows). Later, we head out to dinner for music and a final trip reflection. The next morning we depart for home.
