Summary of Job
Global Works is hiring a proactive, energetic, passionate, and engaged individual to plan and execute our Spain programs for high school, middle school, and university groups. The Global Works program has all the highlights of a traditional Spain student travel trip with an elevated focus on experiential activities related to themes of immigration, community service and outreach, climate change, and other current societal issues. Our ultimate goal is to make connections and collaborate with Spanish communities, organizations, and individuals.
In 2026, we project that 3-5 SGT programs will run between January and June with an estimate of 20-25 students and 3-5 adult chaperones per program. And, we will run two or three TST programs late June to early August with an estimate of 22 students and 3 GW leaders per program.
Description of the Global Works Spain Program Director Role
- Continue to develop and implement the School Group Travel (SGT) Spain programs to align with the mission and vision of our organization.
- Research and network with potential partners and vendors to execute the program, including but not limited to partners for: lodging, transportation, tour guides, volunteer activities, experiential educational opportunities, and workshops/ speakers.
- Identify and secure reservations for lodging, transportation, and all activities.
- Identify organizations with volunteer and outreach programs in Spain with varying themes including, environmental/ climate change, unhoused people, immigration, political action networks, grassroots volunteer outfits.
- For the duration of the contract, the Program Director may also fulfill the responsibilities of a Global Works trip leader, as well as perform onsite scouting, vendor vetting, providing additional training, and program development as prioritized by the Global Works home office.
- The time commitment is an estimated 1 to 5 hours per week. The amount of hours per week is dependent on the time of year with November through March being the busiest months.
- The Spain Program Director will be given priority to contracts to be a Trip Leader on the programs. The Trip Leader/ Scouting compensation is an additional contract/ compensation package.
General Global Works Spain Program Director Responsibilities
- Meet with the Global Works Director of Operations on a bi-weekly basis via Zoom calls, 30-45 minutes in duration.
- Maintain reservations and planned activities.
- Train and support Global Works Trip Leaders prior to and while in the field with student groups.
- Be proactive in providing itineraries for participants for a fulfilling, fun, and educational experience.
- Plan and prepare for everyone’s safety and welfare.
- Be responsible for knowing, reinforcing, and supporting the Global Works Risk Management Protocols and Guidelines while planning the programs.
- Plan programs to facilitate the learning experience and encourage personal growth for students and chaperones.
- Attend staff training, orientation meetings, and debrief sessions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Direct experience traveling, living, and working in Spain
- Excellent communication and organization skills. Bi-lingual Spanish/ English.
- Ability to work effectively with peers from diverse backgrounds, be flexible, and have a sense of humor.
- Have a wonder for travel and how it can lead to self-discovery, perspective, and a passion for life.
- Volunteer experience with a non-profit or community-based organization or educational group.
Compensation
- $500 for year-round General Director Responsibilities
- $900 per Program Set-Up (SGT)
- $900 per Program Set-Up (TST)
- Round trip airfare (If not living in the program destination)
- Room and board are covered when leading Global Works trips and during scouting days
- Additional compensation if contracted to Trip Lead a program, dependent on length of program

Job Description:
- For the duration of the contract, January 2026 through July 2026, the GWPL will fulfill the responsibilities of a Global Works trip leader, as well as perform onsite scouting, providing additional training, and program development as prioritized by the Global Works home office. Other duties may include vendor vetting or program support. There is potential for a contract extension beyond July, based on the needs of Global Works.
- The GWPL will be assigned no fewer than 20 working days per month, and no more than 24 working days per month. This does not include travel time between program locations. (The approximate breakdown is 16-20 days trip leading/scouting and 2-4 administration days, remote meetings, and travel with 2-4 days off between trips whenever possible.)
- The GWPL will be assigned to Global Works programs, to be determined by their experience and language proficiencies, as well as Global Works’ overall staffing needs. The majority of the programs will be in: Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, France, and New Orleans/American South.
- The most common daily duties will include trip leading, scouting, and onsite vendor vetting for Global Works SGT or TST trips. In addition, the GWPL will also be involved in meetings with the home office, program directors, and SGT chaperones.
- GWPLs will be given priority in their choice of assignment for at least one Global Works Program during their contract. Subject to Global Works’ overall staffing needs.
- The schedule will be determined by Global Works home office, according to staffing needs. Any requests for specific vacation days must be approved by Global Works’ home office prior to the start of the contract. The following dates should be considered unavailable for vacation requests:
- February 14-21
- March 1 – 31
- May 18 – 31
- June 15 – 30
General Global Works Program Lead (aka GWPL) Responsibilities
- Be proactive in providing participants with a fulfilling, fun, and educational experience.
- Ensure everyone’s safety and welfare, including your own.
- Be responsible for knowing, reinforcing, and supporting the Global Works Risk Management Protocols and Guidelines.
- Facilitate the learning experience and encourage personal growth for both the students and yourself.
- Attend staff training, orientation meetings, and debrief sessions.
- Transport participants in passenger vans is required in some program locations.
- Serve as Team Lead on TST programs and main point of contact to the home office while in the field.
- Mentor and train new leaders and interns
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional experience leading or facilitating groups of students (ages 12-18) to promote critical thinking skills and encourage wonder & curiosity.
- Direct experience traveling, living, and working in the countries/ destinations that Global Works has programs.
- Fluency in Spanish/ English or French/English proficiency as staff will be required to instruct students or navigate with the group in the program country’s official language.
- Current Adult CPR & Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification or complete the course prior to contract start date.
- Strongly preferred but not required during the hiring process: further medical training (Wilderness First Responder, EMT), Emotional First Aid, and water/ life-guarding certification (WSI).
- Effective communication and organization skills.
- Strong mentor skills and the ability to positively affect another human being’s life.
- Ability to work effectively with peers from diverse backgrounds, be flexible, and have a sense of humor.
- Have a wonder for travel and how it can lead to self-discovery, perspective, and a passion for life.
- Volunteer experience with a non-profit or community-based organization or educational group.
- Preferred completion of Global Works’ van driving training, and have an impeccable driving record, and possess a valid driver’s license.
Compensation
- $2,600 monthly compensation
- Round trip airfare (If not living in a program destination)
- Room and board are covered when leading Global Works trips and during scouting days
- Additional $20 per every Stellar Staff Community Call attended
Benefits
- Cost-of-living stipend between $75 and $125 per day (depending on program location) for every day not contracted to trip lead/scout AND not leading in place of residency. Stipend covered for a maximum of four (4) days between trip leading dates. (Note: if time between trips exceeds 4 days, expectation is to return to homebase and fly back to program location or take personal time at your own expense)

We are currently accepting applications for 2026 Teen Summer Trip and School Group Travel Trip Leaders! Most of our openings are on our Costa Rica, France, and Spain programs in June and July 2026.
Job Description
Teen Summer Trip Leaders travel with and facilitate programming for high school or middle school student groups for our 1 to 4 week summer programs. Responsible for knowing, reinforcing, and supporting the Global Works Risk Management Protocols and Guidelines, trip leaders are proactive in providing participants with a fulfilling, fun, and educational experience. They work to ensure everyone’s safety and welfare, including their own while facilitating the learning experience and encouraging personal growth.
General Trip Leader Roles & Responsibilities

Trip Leader Qualifications & Experience

Compensation
Trip Leaders earn $100-$130/ day plus compensation for additional responsibilities. Trip Leader may be contracted to fulfill additional responsibilities as Team Lead or Group Flight Chaperone for added compensation. Round trip flight (if not living in the program destination) is covered; all living and travel expenses covered during program dates.
