Details and Itinerary

3 meals a day including drinks

Global Works can arrange all of your group’s airfare needs.

Participants stay in homestays, double or dorm-style rooms in hotels and eco-lodges
Chaperones stay in single rooms (unless otherwise noted)

Length of trip may be customized to fit your needs. Your departure date is up to you!

DAY 1: ARRIVAL & ORIENTATION

Group flight arrival to San Jose (SJO). Go through customs, pick up luggage, and meet fabulous Global Works trip leader!
Transfer via private bus to hotel
Arrival at the hotel, safety briefing, and snacks. Settle into rooms.

DAY 2: ZIPLINE CANOPY TOUR & HOMESTAY

Bus transfer for a thrilling zipline canopy adventure. Settle into cabinas and pool time
Costa Rican lunch in La Fortuna
Arrive at your Homestay community and have a warm family welcome
Enjoy dinner with host families

DAY 3: HOMESTAY SERVICE PROJECTS & WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTER

Projects begin! Typical projects include: pouring the foundation for a community center, planting organic school gardens, painting and tiling a community kitchen, constructing a plant nursery, teaching English lessons
Group meeting to learn some relevant Spanish vocabulary
Transfer to wildlife rescue center and begin our volunteer projects that may include preparing diet and feeding animals, cleaning and painting enclosures, or creating environmentally friendly toys for animals
Reflect on the value of conservation and our roles in contributing to a more sustainable future
Tasty dinner at the homestay

DAY 4: HOMESTAY SERVICE PROJECTS & FIESTA

Continue to work with our friends in a nearby community on community development and environmental projects
Lunch prepared by local families
Break from our projects for opportunities of exchange like soccer games, English and Spanish intercambios, and excursions
Evening fiesta and thank you to families and new friends

DAYS 5-6: PACIFIC COAST SURFING

Time to hit the beach! We travel to the Pacific Coast, famous for its unique combination of rainforest and ocean settings
We spend two full days enjoying the beach and taking surf lessons, taught by professional instructors. The wave conditions on this beach provide the perfect opportunity for all levels to hang ten!
In the evening of our last beach day, we trek into the jungle in order to explore a nearby area famous for gorgeous waterfalls

DAY 7-8: TRAVEL HOME

Our trip back to the Central Valley gives us time to share our memories
During a celebratory dinner and awards ceremony, we reflect upon our time together and prepare for our journey home
We enjoy a final group dinner at our beautiful San Jose accommodation
Transfer by bus to the airport for the group flight from San Jose Airport
Say farewell to your Global Works leaders and depart for home
