Chalo Esquivel

Chalo was born and raised in Costa Rica. In 2008, Chalo graduated from La Universidad Nacional in Heredia, Costa Rica, where he studied Geography and Planning. Since then, he’s taken on adventurous contracts, mapping out diverse areas of CR: from the indigenous territories of Limon to the dense cities of the Central Valley. He is excited to share his comprehensive social, cultural, and geographical vision of Costa Rica with travelers this summer. Chalo knew he had found something great in 2002, when he first crossed paths with a Global Works program in his home town of Heredia, Costa Rica and he has been leading trips with us since then. Chalo believes service work is the best way to get to know locals. In his free time, he can be found mountain biking, training for triathlons, gardening, or tinkering away in his workshop.
