Virginia Heiser

Qualifications

Davidson College, BA Biology & Arab Studies

Location

  • Costa Rica

Virginia grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and attended Davidson College in North Carolina. She first fell in love with Spanish during an immersion program in Costa Rica in 2018 and has been passionate about forming connections through language and culture ever since. She studied abroad in both Jordan and Spain, learning Arabic, Spanish, and how to politely decline a third serving of tea or tapas. She worked as an assistant Spanish teacher and Arabic tutor throughout college, where she loved sharing her passion for language with other students. She has a degree in Biology with a minor in Arab Studies—because combining science and Arabic just made sense at the time. She’s worked as a medical interpreter and just started volunteering as an ESL teacher. In her free time, you can find her playing tennis, reading at least 2-3 books at a time, or trying new restaurants with friends. She’s thrilled to join Global Works this summer and is ready for a new adventure and getting students excited about exploring a new country and culture.
