Today we flew to Washington D.C, it was a bumpy flight! But we are all ok. When we arrived it was windy. We went to lunch at Roti and had Caribbean bowls and pita bread. We walked around and saw the White House and the Washington Monument. Then we went shopping in some souvenir shops.

At night, we went to & Pizza and had pizza and cinnamon bites. We then went on a night tour to all the memorials and it was fascinating and inspiring because of the history and the impacts they had on people, mostly our veterans. Without these brave people, our country would not be the same as it is today.

We went to a social justice workshop at the Luther Place church and we talked about a lot of different human rights topics. We also learned about homelessness in DC. After the workshop we went to the Spy Museum and visited a lot of cool exhibits. Later we ate lunch at a food court where we got Subway, pizza, and Panda Express. Then we took a civil rights walking tour around the city. We learned a lot about cool buildings and what they meant to the civil rights movement. Later that night, we went to dinner at Ben’s Chili Bowl and then headed back to the hotel for the night.

Busy day today, we went on a Capitol tour, learned about lobbyists, and went to two museums. On the Capitol tour, we walked around and went into the Senate Chamber, where Congress voted to end the shutdown last night. Mr. Belins has a friend that got us into all sorts of restricted areas. We also were in a room that was so tall it could fit the Statue of Liberty with 6 feet to spare. It was amazing!
In the Planet Word Museum we learned where words came from and why from a word wall. One of the rooms was a language teaching room with tons of options. A really fun room was this karaoke room, and everybody sang. The last room was a word definition room. Overall it was a fun experience.
At the O Museum, we did a scavenger hunt to find secret doors and some history. The best part was finding the secret doors and the Halloween room. It was a long, great day!
