Details & Itinerary

Days 1 – 3: Malaga Arrival & Sevilla Orientation

We start our adventures with a flight into Malaga. Upon arrival, we head to Sevilla, a quintessential Andalusian city. Here, we begin our orientation to the Spanish culture and language through historical visits and language activities. We visit the Alcazar, an famously beautiful, detailed Moorish palace, the Gothic Cathedral, and the Jewish quarter. We learn about the history of these sites while admiring their art and architecture.

Days 4 – 7: Granada Community Stay & Service Projects

Transfer by bus to Granada where we are based at the Fundación Escuela de Solidaridad (FES), just outside the city. FES is a non profit organization offering assistance to single family and immigrant families in need. We spend the next few days working alongside community members to learn about and give back to the organization. Our community and educational projects may include: working in the preschool, teaching English, preparing meals, gardening, building greenhouses, and making candles to sell at community fundraisers. Being so close to the city, we are able to visit the beautiful Alhambra, called “paradise on earth” by the rulers who lived at this palace in the 13th century. Put on your dancing shoes for a flamenco lesson and soak in the Andalusian culture.

Day 8: Cordoba

Our travels culminate in Cordoba! We take a day trip to tour and visit the Great Mosque of Cordoba, known as the the Mezquita. This astoundingly beautiful structure is representative of the confluence of Arabic, Christian, and Jewish cultures in the region. We also enjoy a classic Andalusian lunch and have time to explore the architectural wonders of Cordoba by foot.

Days 9 – 10: Malaga & Departure

We transfer back down to the Mediterranean and the city of Málaga. Here we enjoy some last minute souvenir shopping, a stroll by the sea, and a final dinner with live music, great food, and laughter. The next morning we depart for the airport to begin our journey home.
