Hi families! Today was a super tiring and exciting travel day. We met at the airport at 6:00am and boarded the plain at around 7:20. After landing, we took a fun bus ride to the hotel and went over expectations and room assignments. After arriving at the hotel, we walked about 20 minutes to El Tamarindo, a delicious Mexican/El Salvadoran food. All tuckered out, we returned to the hotel and discussed the itinerary and metro rules. We then turned in for the night, tired from a jam-packed day. See you soon!

For the first day of our washington DC woke up to a delicious hotel breakfast of eggs, bacon, pancakes, French toast, yogurt, and fruit! We then took a walking tour of the city, allowing us to learn about the Civil Rights movements and important people at the time. We were also able to see the White House, have lunch with a view of the Washington monument, and explore the National Museum of African American history and culture.
In the museum we saw real artitacts, art pieces, and lite sized buildings and trains. Each exhibit showcased a different pant of Black history. We got to see an outfits worn by Oprah, Olympians, and look through a gift shop full of books, merchandise and facts about Black history.
Lastly, we took a lobbying work shop preparing us to present ideas to a congressman we will be able to meet tomorrow. We learned about current debated topics and learned out to present our ideas persuasively on the subject.
Then we hopped on the bus and had a tasty dinner at Ben’s Chili bowl, a famous DC restaurant. We also celebrated ROBERTS BDAY WOOOO! Now we’re back to the hotel for some sleep before our meeting with the Congressman tomorrow. Goodnight!

Today we started off with breakfast at the hotel then we took a metro to meet the Chief of Staff for Congressmen Huffman. Then as we were walking out a large group of reporters gathered to interview Jeffery Epstein’s neighbor and possible friend. Afterwards, we walked to the Capitol and took group photos. Soon after, we took the metro to a mall where we had the option of where we would eat in the food court. Once we finished our food we went to see an exhibit about children in the holocaust. The exhibit was very sad including shocking statistics but very useful and informative information. Once we were finished in the museum we had some downtime in the hotel before we walked to a church which was holding a letter writing and social justice workshop. There we were taught about the history of the church and the events that it holds including having women without homes stay there for a meal on Sundays. Along with that we got into groups and worked on a sheet of paper and sang a song which was our final activity of the day. Once the night came we walked to get Mediterranean food with the whole group and had a delicious meal of rice bowls. After our meal, we all walked back to the hotel and went to sleep finishing our day.

We had a scrumptious breakfast and gathered in the lobby to discuss the plan for the day. We started by going to the Smithsonian museum of Natural History and we say some cool exhibits including the hope diamond, fossils, dinosaurs, bisons and the ocean exhibit with a huge elephant!
We then headed to China town and experience the culture of DC while eating a delicious lunch. Then we went to Planet Earth and learned all about the history of language.
We headed to Franklin Park and had a pizza party before walking to the Ford Theater, the same theater where Abraham Lincoln was shot! We saw the musical 1776. As soon as it ended, we sprinted as fast as we could and caught the bus JUST in time to make it in time for bed.

Dear parents, it’s our last day in DC and what a trip it’s been!!
Today we began by exploring the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream. We learned how new futuristic technologies could influence the idea and possibilities of the American Dream. Next we headed to the Potbelly Sandwich Shop where we picked up a delicious lunch! We ate at the beautiful Franklin Park and concluded with a final trip reflection. After picking up our luggage at the hotel, we boarded the bus and drove to the airport! See you this evening!
