Proud to Be a Certified B Corporation

What is a Certified B Corporation? B Corporation logo

Collectively, Certified B Corporations lead a growing global movement of people using business as a force for good. Certification demonstrates a spirited commitment to high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. In 2017, Global Works officially became a Certified B Corporation, proudly joining over 1,800 companies around the world who are redefining success in business. We are thrilled to be one of the first student travel companies receive this certification!

Why We Became a B Corp

Certified B Corp standards align with our mission statement. Global Works strives to provide travelers with rewarding community service and adventure travel programs, which foster personal growth and promote social and cultural awareness for them and the communities they serve. In addition, we are held accountable for environmentally friendly business practices and promoting local businesses. Most importantly, it demonstrates that we employ awesome people fairly and that we stand tall for what we value. Becoming a Certified B Corp is the right thing to do! The Change We Seek

B Corporation

Global Works seeks to be a leader in the field of meaningful service learning. We can be the flagship program in student travel that emphasizes ethical and responsible engagement with local communities. We seek to instill a passion for service work, humanitarian efforts, and environmental preservation throughout the lifetime of a Global Works traveler, to deepen participants’ understanding of social-economic, political, and cultural inequalities of our world, and to open their eyes to their role in positive change.

Think of it this way: USDA certifies organic foods, and Good Housekeeping puts its seal of approval on quality products, like washing machines and skillets. And since 2006, a nonprofit organization called B Lab has been certifying corporations it deems to be concerned about their communities and the environment. – NPR

The B Corp movement is one of the most important of our lifetime, built on the simple fact that business impacts and serves more than just shareholders—it has an equal responsibility to the community and to the planet.
